In the run up to Christmas 1981 a few of the Radio Floss team wanted to do a Christmas broadcast, however the idea met a cool response from the rest of the station. In the end a Christmas broadcast was made under the name Santa Sounds. The music played included considerably more Jazz-Funk than would normally be heard on Floss.

The programmes were pre-recorded at the original Floss studio in Harefield, and the transmitter was set up on Barn Hill in Wembley.
